Good stuff, “Maynard”. Loved the contrasts. God tests and Satan tempts; that failure to endure the testing and follow one’s own inclinations (flesh} or the devils offerings is the temptation–consistent with James who says God does not tempt, but we are tempted by our own lusts and drawn away (Ja. 1:13-14). Liked the play on words, when our “situation” becomes a “sinuation” when we are “do it your selfers”. Good use of personal experience of God’s goodness, provision and faithfulness. Now, Terry, as you look back, you can understand the purposes of God’s testing as one tested in the furnace and purified. Your preaching now seems from the heart and you now know experiencially the faithfulness of God, whereas prior to your testing, your head knowledge, albeit vital and important, was untempered by the fiery furnace. You are a testament to God’s faithfulness. I, like the Tin Man of the Wizard of Oz, needed a heart, too.
Continue to preach the Word brother, from the heart!!
